Cristina has been the United Nations Special Adviser on Africa since August 2020, bringing over 34 years of leadership and strategic management experience in public policy and the private sector. She served as Cabo Verde’s Minister of Finance and Planning from 2006 to 2016, in which role she made significant contributions to the country’s economic development.
Cristina’s career path includes prominent roles in the banking sector, having led operations at Citibank in Angola. She has also collaborated with several international financial institutions, including the World Bank, International Monetary Fund (IMF), and the African Development Bank. Her expertise has been recognised through appointments to prestigious boards, such as AGRA and the UONGOZI Institute’s Institute of African Leadership for Sustainable Development.
Cristina holds a Master’s in International Management from Thunderbird School of Global Management and a Bachelor of Arts in Public Policies from the Instituto Superior de Economia in Lisbon.
