Dean, Gordon Institute of Business Science, South Africa

Morris is the Dean of the University of Pretoria’s Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS), following his appointment in 2022. He is an associate professor of corporate strategy and governance. His academic research interests are at the micro-foundations of corporate strategy and governance and are aligned with the GIBS’s Centre for Business Ethics and
the GIBS Centre for African Markets and Management.

Morris joined GIBS in 2014 and was appointed as the Executive Director of Faculty in 2017 and interim Dean in 2020. He teaches in the areas of corporate governance and strategy espousing responsible business practice amplified by international peer reviewed teaching case studies, many of which he has co-authored. He has a wealth of corporate experience in banking, insurance, and investment management – with a cumulative 31 years in the financial services industry.

Morris contributes internationally to responsible business education as a member of the South African Business Schools Association (SABSA) Deans and Directors forum, the Association of International Business’s Dean’s Round Table, Association of MBA’s EMEA Advisory Council, the UN Global Compact’s UNPRME Global Chapter Council and PRME (i5) Advisory Board. Morris is also an independent non-executive director at Investec Bank Limited, King Price Life, and UN Global Compact Local Network South Africa.
